What type of assistance do you offer?
We provide gifts for children in Canton, Michigan who are 18 years of age and younger (not adults), consisting of clothing items, age appropriate gifts/toys, and books. We also provide wrapping paper, tape, a box of non-perishable food, and gift cards for purchasing additional food.
To whom do you provide assistance?
We provide assistance to families without regard to the family’s religious preference. We serve families who 1) live in Canton, Michigan, 2) whose children live with them in Canton, and 3) who meet our income guidelines for a family of their size.
When is your application period?
Applications are available in mid-September and must be postmarked one month from the initial release date. Notifications (approved or denied) are sent by November 1 to all families who apply by the cut-off date.
Where can I get an Application Packet?
In mid-September each year, applications can be picked up at the Canton Public Library or the Clerk’s Office in the Canton Administration Building, or downloaded from get assistance.
If I am denied assistance, or don’t live in Canton, where else can I apply for assistance?
You can call the Plymouth Salvation Army at 1-734-453-5464. They will inform you of the date on which they start accepting calls for Christmas assistance.Do you coordinate lists with other local organizations offering assistance?
We share our approved families list with local service providers to ensure that families do not receive assistance from more than one agency.
